The Central Valley Health & Nutrition Collaborative has six Action Teams that work together on education initiatives to promote our mission of wellness through healthy eating and physical activity. These include the Coordinated School Health Action Team (CSH), Worksite Wellness Action Team, Communication Action Team, Diabetes Action Team, Community Resources Action Team, and the Prescription for Health Team.
The Coordinated School Health Action Team provides nutrition education and resource sharing opportunities to qualifying schools to facilitate sharing best practices and innovative ideas, which promote a coordinated school health approach.
The Worksite Wellness Action Team educates employers on the benefits of site-based nutrition education, physical activity promotion, and a breastfeeding-friendly environment.
The Communication Action Team supports our partners throughout the Central Valley with media materials to promote the Collaborative and train spokespersons. They design new communication materials and develop activities for National Nutrition Month and Family Month.
The Diabetes Action Team is focused on healthy eating and active living as a way to prevent diabetes. They are creating a resource directory for the Central Valley, as well as holding forums to educate/train Collaborative partners on diabetes care and prevention.
The Community Resources Action Team is creating a document that will list free- to low-cost food resources for each county along with educational information on Food Stamps and WIC.
The Prescription for Health Team has developed a prescription pad with physical activity resources for medical providers to use to recommend free- to low-cost physical activities to patients.
