The Application Process

PA or NP Primary Care
Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a part-time or full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician’s Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality care in our Primary Care practice. ACT Team Psychiatrist
Catawba Valley Healthcare, a non-profit Integrated Care practice based in the foothills of North Carolina is seeking a part-time psychiatrist for our Assertive Community Treatment Team.
*If seeking full-time employment, the other half of the position would provide Psychiatric medication management in our Integrated Care clinic. *
ACTT Team Psychiatrist Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Typically sees the beneficiaries for the assessment and treatment of the beneficiary’s symptoms and response to medication including side effects.
- Provides clinical supervision and oversight of the psychiatric services delivered by the NP or PA.
- Actively collaborates with nurses to develop and implement medication administration policies and procedures as well as oversee the medical care of beneficiaries that include regular screenings for medical conditions and assessment of wellness and health management.
- Educates non-medical team members on psychiatric & non-psychiatric medications
- Regularly participates in daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings; attends daily team meetings in proportion to time allocated on team.
- Provides backup to the team as necessary while on call.
Mobile Crisis Clinician
Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full-time Mobile Crisis Clinician responsible for providing community-based crisis services aimed at the prevention, intervention, and immediate stabilization of crisis events experienced by persons related to mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. The employee shall use clinical processes and procedures to resolve the crisis, transport clients to local community resources, and submit clinical documentation in a timely manner.
The clinician will work as part of a team covering Burke and Catawba counties. The shift is 12 hours (noon to midnight). There will be 4 weekend shifts per month, 7-9 on-call shifts, and some holiday shifts. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is highly important.
Master’s preferred in the behavioral science field from an accredited college/university. Preference is given to individuals who are clinically licensed in NC, including LCAS, or LCSW, LPC, LMFT with CSAC. Based on the immediate needs of the agency, individuals may be hired that are actively seeking and under supervision for clinical licensure. QP level clinicians will be considered.

Certified Peer Support Specialist- L.E.A.D
This position will support the L.E.A.D. Case Managers in Burke and Catawba Counties with their community-based work. The Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (L.E.A.D.)
Case Managers work with individuals referred directly from Law Enforcement and who are facing substance use related charges. The CPSS provides direct support to those enrolled with case management as they access community resources. L.E.A.D. participants may struggle with a variety of Brain Health/Mental health/Substance Use disorders.

Front Desk Specialist
Jail Re-Entry Specialist (Burke & Lincoln Counties)
This position will work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs within the Lincoln or Burke County Detention Centers. The focus will be identifying individuals who may be eligible for our Transitional Housing Program and making referrals to individuals upon their release from jail to identify and connect with resources within the community that will best support their Recovery process through case management services. This will include work both within the Detention center and out in the community with individuals and other outside agencies. Some transportation of individuals will be expected. This is a fast-paced position and requires a high level of self-sufficiency. Supervision provided, a strong work ethic and a compassionate personality is needed.
Position requirements:
Minimum of 2 yrs experience in Case Management, Preferred experience with justice involved population.
Minimum NC Certified PSS (CPSS) with at least 12 months in Recovery and/or, Associates Degree (AP) in Human Services or related field
Must have a valid Driver’s License and auto insurance.
Cannot have any legal issues (including probation) within the past 5 years
Pay Range: $40,000 – $50,000/year + Benefits
IDD Group Residential Home Paraprofessional – Overnight – Full-Time
Catawba Valley Healthcare (CVH) is a non-profit organization that includes adult residential group home services as one of its programs. The group homes are located in Catawba County, NC. CVH has immediate openings for 2 Fulltime para professionals.
The residents of the group homes are adults with behavioral health challenges. No skilled nursing care required.
Seeking staff for overnight shifts and week. Staff are not awake staff. 7 nights on and 7 nights off.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Will drive a van as needed. Applicants must have good driving record.

ACT Team Lead
The ACT Team Leader must have experience in the mental health field and is preferred to have an LPC or LCSW.
Minimum requirements are a LCSW-A or LPC-A while pursuing full licensure. No CNA’s are eligible.
The ACT Team Leader duties are as follows:
- Provide effective oversight, direction, and clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and performance appraisals where appropriate. Ensure programs are fully staffed with qualified, trained employees.
- Ensure effective 24-hour, 7 day a week, 365 day a year coverage for individuals served as required by program.
- Build and manage an effective and clinically sound team.
- Serve as a practicing clinician on the Assertive Community Treatment Team and coordinate the activities and services.
- Lead meetings and disseminate information to other ACTT staff from various sources.
- Monitors and assesses the quality of services of assigned programs including but not limited to conducting audits of charts, overseeing the peer review process, direct observation of staff, etc..
- Responsible for marketing the agency and program by developing appropriate referral sources, and by maintaining positive working relationships within the communities served, including individuals, families, staff, monitoring and licensing agencies, organizations, and funders.
- Attend and actively participate in community and agency meetings as assigned. Implement and monitor budgets as requested/directed by supervisor.
- Monitor medical records management and activities of the Assertive Community Treatment Team to ensure compliance with agency policies, Medicaid, and other requirements
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements. Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.

ACT Team Peer Support
CVH is seeking 1 certified peer support specialist who has at least 12 months of demonstrated recovery. One full-time position is available on the Hickory NC Assertive Community Treatment Team. MUST HAVE PEER SUPPORT CERTIFICATION
The Peer Support Specialist is a full-time employee who provides a variety of center-based and/or community-based individual and group services to individuals receiving or seeking mental health services and/or who identify themselves in recovery. The Peer Support Specialist provides a continuum of activities that promote recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, and enhancement of community living skills. The Peer Specialist links clients to community services. The Peer Support Specialist describes, encourages, models and mentors recovery values, attitudes, beliefs and personal actions so that consumers learn to manage their own recovery and live in ways that encourage wellness and resilience. The Specialist gathers program data, must use computer technology, and engage in training and activities that support their own recovery. Peer Specialists work as part of a clinical team and will be clinically supervised.
Must have a high school diploma or GED, peer support certificate, have a vehicle and NC driver’s license, and computer skill experience.

Jail Clinician – Lincoln
Description: This position is responsible for providing clinical support within the Lincoln County Detention Facility. This position facilitates clinical groups with the inmates focusing on substance use and brain health, teaching coping skills, decision making skills, anger management and others. The Clinician is responsible for completing assessments for all participants referred to the Pretrial Diversion and Re-Entry services.

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full-time licensed/associate therapist with at least two year’s experience to work as part of an ACT team based out of Hickory NC.
This position will provide therapy and case management services to the individuals who meet criteria and choose to participate in the Assertive Community Treatment team. This person will serve as the therapist for clients on the team. This is a full-time position working in a day program center located in the Hickory, NC area. The position assists in providing training to clients with severe or profound developmental disabilities. The selected candidate teaches and guides clients to develop basic work, social and living skills. Trains clients to acquire skills in independent living, self-help, adaptive behavior, pre-vocational and community living. Assists with personal hygiene needs of clients. Participates in person-centered planning. Collects and records client data to ensure accurate record keeping. Transports clients to and from the Life Skills facility using a van. Must be a minimum of 25 years old to meet driving insurance requirements.
Must have a working knowledge of the developmental disabled population and must possess the knowledge and skill building trainings through a variety of training techniques. Experience with this population a must.

Licensed Clinical Therapist
Licensed Clinical Therapist– Therapist will work in the beautiful foothills of western North Carolina, with easy access to the mountains and a four hour drive to the Atlantic coast beaches. Must be a LCSW/LCSW-A, LCMHC/LCMHC-A, or a LMFT will provide treatment in outpatient therapy full time or part time, working in a forward-thinking comprehensive community behavioral health agency that values employees and the people we serve. In the Outpatient Therapy Department, the LCSW/LCSW-A, LCMHC/LCMHCA and LMFT will implement comprehensive clinical assessments, provide individual and group therapy, as well as related case support. Prior experience providing treatment to individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders is required. The LCSW/LCSW-A, LCMHC/LCMHC-A, or LMFT must also have excellent diagnostic and therapy skills, and be an advocate for individuals with behavioral health conditions. Previous experience working in a non-profit organization is a plus. Some non-traditional hours may be required depending on the position offered. Candidates must be licensed to practice as an LCSW/LCSWA, LCMHC/LCMHC-A or LMFT in North Carolina.
General Knowledge and Skills Required:
Knowledge of evidence-based practices in relation to treatment of individuals with mental illness or dual diagnoses. Ability to successfully interact with a diverse population displaying both linguistic and cultural competence. Ability to provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices with a diverse population. Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, including excellent computer skills.
