Jail Clinician (Lincoln County)

This position is responsible for providing clinical support within the Lincoln County Detention Facility. This position facilitates clinical groups with the inmates focusing on substance use and brain health, teaching coping skills, decision making skills, anger management and others. The clinician is responsible for completing assessments for all participants referred to the Pretrial Diversion and Re-Entry services. 

Position Requirements

  • North Carolina Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) 
  • Preferred 2 years’ experience working with Brain/Mental Health 
  • Preferred previous or current law enforcement experience. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check performed by Lincoln County and Catawba Valley healthcare

Jail Re-Entry Specialist (Lincoln & Burke Counties)

This position will work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs within the Lincoln or Burke County Detention Centers. The focus will be helping Returning Citizens upon their release from jail, identify and connect with needed resources within the community that will prevent them from reoffending through intensive case management services. This will include work both within the Detention center and out in the community with individuals and other outside agencies. Some transportation of individuals will be expected. This is a fast-paced position and requires high level of self-sufficiency. Supervision provided, strong work ethic and a compassionate personality is needed. 

Position requirements:  

  • Minimum of 2 yrs experience in Case Management,  
  • Minimum Associates Degree (AP) in Human Services or related field and/or NC Certified PSS (CPSS),  
  • Must have valid Driver’s License and auto insurance. 
  • Must have a good Driving Record.  
  • Cannot have any legal issues (including probation) within the past 5 year 

  Salary Range: $30,000 – 35,000/year

Part-time Transportation Support Specialist

This position will work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs. The focus will be supporting the 3 primary programs within the Jail Services at Lincoln, Catawba and Burke Detention Center Facilities by providing transportation to consumers (Offenders) as needed. Must have very good boundaries and be willing to work with all sorts of people. Supervision provided.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Associates Degree (AP) in Human Services or related field and/or NC Certified PSS (CPSS),

Must have valid Driver’s License and auto insurance.

Must have a dependable vehicle for use in transporting consumers.

Cannot have more than 3 points on current Driving Record.

Office Support Specialist II-Finance

This position is responsible for providing support to the Finance department, including assisting with the daily deposit coding/keying. Process weekly Accounts Payable invoices, sales & use tax payments and refunds, maintain vehicle list and registration renewals, etc. Responsible for auditing and billing claims for the Hospital Discharge program services provided and researching claim denials for hospital discharges with back up provided by the Finance Director. Also, will be responsible for reconciliation of bank accounts and statements. This position will also assist and provide backup service for Payee Specialist and Credentialing.

Position Requirements:
Prefer candidate with experience in behavioral health.. High School diploma with a least one year of experience in accounts payable/receivables with an understanding of accounting principles and accounting software.

Must have good interpersonal skills as this position involves interaction with various internal staff and external payers..

Software systems include Greenway Health, Alpha MCS, NC Tracks, Palmetto GBA, various insurance portals, Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have working knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software.

 Certified Peer Support- Hospital Discharge

This Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) is primarily based at Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) to facilitate a smooth transition from the inpatient Psychiatric setting to an outpatient setting by ensuring the community based follow up appointments are kept. This position will assess and assist the patients in connecting with other needed community resources (Food, Housing, Transportation etc.) until they are able to connect with their follow up Provider. The CPSS will also facilitate groups to the current inpatient population in the hospital. 

Position Requirements

Must be a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist 

Preferred 2 years Case Management experience 

Preferred experience working with Severe Mental Illness and Substance Use populations 

Must have valid Driver’s License and auto insurance 

Must have a good driving record 

Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 

Pay Range: $15 – 16.50/hr 

 

 

Health Equity Coordinator 

The Health Equity Coordinator (HEC) is responsible for managing the care of the identified uninsured population referred by Primary Care staff. The HEC will complete a Social Determinates of Health (SDOH) assessment to screening for various social needs and benefit eligibility that may be interfering with their Primary Care treatment. The HEC will provide care coordination with the identified patients and any community agencies via NCCARES360 and other state agencies. This position can be community based and could have a transportation component.  

 Position Requirements

Minimum of 2 yrs experience in Case Management  

A bachelor’s degree in a field related to health, psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, or another relevant human services area  

Must have valid Driver’s License and auto insurance 

Must have a good Driving Record. 

Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 

 Salary Range:  $35,000 – $40,000/yr

Certified Peer Support Specialist-Health Equity

 This position will support the Health Equity Coordinators with their community-based work. Certified Peer Support Specialist- L.E.A.D 

This position will support the L.E.A.D. Case Managers in Burke and Catawba Counties with their community-based work. The Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (L.E.A.D.) Case Managers work with individuals referred directly from Law Enforcement and who are facing substance use related charges. The CPSS would provide direct support to those enrolled with case management as they access community resources. L.E.A.D. participants may struggle with a variety of Brain Health/Mental health/Substance Use disorders. 

 Position Requirements

Minimum of 2 yrs experience as Certified Peer Support Specialist

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Therapist will work in the beautiful foothills of western North Carolina, with easy access to the mountains and a four hour drive to the Atlantic coast beaches. Must be fully licensed as a LCSW and not a LCSW-A .will provide treatment in outpatient therapy full time or part time, working in a forward-thinking comprehensive community behavioral health agency that values employees and the people we serve. In the Outpatient Therapy Department, the LCSW will implement comprehensive clinical assessments, provide individual and group therapy, as well as related case support. Prior experience providing treatment to individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders is required. The LCSW must also have excellent diagnostic and therapy skills, and be an advocate for individuals with behavioral health conditions. Previous experience working in a non-profit organization is a plus. Some non-traditional hours may be required depending on the position offered. Candidates must be licensed to practice as an LCSW in North Carolina.

General Knowledge and Skills Required:

Knowledge of evidence-based practices in relation to treatment of individuals with mental illness or dual diagnoses. Ability to successfully interact with a diverse population displaying both linguistic and cultural competence. Ability to provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices with a diverse population. Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, including excellent computer skills.

Care Management Supervisor

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full time Case Management Supervisor with at least three year’s experience providing care management, case management, or care coordination to the population being served. Preference for individual with general knowledge of the dynamics of Brain Health/MI and it’s impact upon person served and their families. The care management supervisor is responsible for the general oversite of the care management program. The supervisor monitors care managers case loads and ensures quality work and deadlines are met. The supervisor provides or arranges for coverage during care manager absences.

Preferred and Minimum Position Qualifications

A provisionally Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), provisionally Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), provisionally Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or licensure as an RN; and Three years of experience providing care management, case management, or care coordination to the population being served.

Salary is related to credential and experience.

 

Medical Assistant (Hickory and Morganton)

Catawba Valley Healthcare, located in Hickory NC, provides integrated care to clients including primary medical, outpatient counseling, psychiatric services, medication management, mobile crisis assistance and peer support services. The agency seeks a medical assistant to work primarily back office in the medical area in two locations: Morganton, NC and Hickory, NC this is a split position between the two counties of Catawba and Burke.

This position will work closely with the prescribers through assisting them in completion of tasks, review of notes, assisting patients with telehealth system.

The applicant must be willing to work in a team environment, communicate well with patients, able to multi-task, and be competent in both front and back office functions.

Experience with Prior Authorizations, Order Entry, Injections, Intake, Medication Refills, and Scribe.

Life Skills IDD Paraprofessional-Day Program

This is a full-time position working in a day program center located in the Hickory, NC area. The IDD paraprofessional assists in providing training to clients with severe or profound developmental disabilities. The selected candidate teaches and guides clients to develop basic work, social, and living skills. Trains clients to acquire skills in independent living, self-help, adaptive behavior, pre-vocational, and community living. Assists with personal hygiene needs of clients. Participates in person-centered planning. Collects and records client data to ensure accurate record keeping. Transports clients to and from the Life Skills facility using a van. Must be a minimum of 25 years old to meet driving insurance requirements.

Must also have a working knowledge of the developmentally disabled population and must possess experience with skill-building training using a variety of training techniques. Experience with this population is a must.

IDD/MH Group Home Direct Support Professional-Overnight-Full Time

Catawba Valley Healthcare (CVH) is a non-profit organization that includes adult residential group home services as one of its programs. The group homes are located in Catawba County, NC. CVH has immediate openings for 2 full-time direct support professionals as well as part-time and PRN.

The residents of the group homes are either adults with intellectual developmental disabilities or behavioral health. No skilled nursing care required.

Seeking staff for overnight shifts and shifts during the week. Staff are not awake staff. 7 nights on and 7 nights off. Days during the 7 day shift are not on site.

Position Requirements:

 Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Will drive a van as needed. Applicants must have a good driving record.
