The Application Process

Jail Services Transportation Floater

Job description:

 This position will provide transportation as needed to returning citizens participating in 1 of the Jail Services programs, Pre-trial Diversion or Re-Entry Services. This staff will support the transportation needs of the participants engaged with the Case managers working in the above mentioned roles. This could entail taking Returning citizens to various treatment centers that those programs work with, or provide local transportation to participants while they are re-stabilizing once released from jail. Work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs within the Catawba, Lincoln or Burke County Detention Centers. Supervision provided, strong work ethic and a compassionate personality is needed.

Position requirements:

NC Certified PSS (CPSS) or QP, Must have valid Driver’s License and auto insurance. Cannot have more than 3 points on current Driving Record. Cannot have any legal issues (including probation) within the past 5 year

Burke County Lead Case Manager

The Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (L.E.A.D.) Case Manager works closely with the Morganton Public Safety and Burke County Sheriff’s Office to provide case management to those individuals who the officers are offering diversion into treatment services. This position is community based and will be the primary resource in linking the offender with resources within the community that addresses multiple social determinates of health needs in addition to facilitating connection to substance use treatment services. The case manager will monitor services individual is involved in and will report back to the appropriate law enforcement agency when the individual does not follow through with requirements or successfully completes the requirements for LEAD.

Position requirements:

Minimum of 2 yrs experience in Case Management

Must have valid Driver’s License and auto insurance

Cannot have more than 3 points on current Driving Record
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Experienced Front Desk Specialist

Job description:

Provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks. The front desk staff will be responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate staff, checking consumers in and out and collecting co-payments and co-insurance as required.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment interacting with the public.

Licensed Clinical Worker

Job description:

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will work in the beautiful foothills of western North Carolina, with easy access to the mountains and a four hour drive to the Atlantic coast beaches. Must be as a LCSW-A or fully licensed and prefer at least 1500 hours of clinical supervision. Will provide treatment in outpatient therapy full time, working in a forward-thinking comprehensive community behavioral health agency that values employees and the people we serve. In the Outpatient Therapy Department, the LCSW will implement comprehensive clinical assessments, provide individual and group therapy, as well as related case support. Prior experience providing treatment to individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders is required. The LCSW must also have excellent diagnostic and therapy skills, and be an advocate for individuals with behavioral health conditions. Previous experience working in a non-profit organization is a plus. Candidates must be licensed to practice as an LCSW in North Carolina.

General Knowledge and Skills Required:

Knowledge of evidence-based practices in relation to treatment of individuals with mental illness or dual diagnoses. Ability to successfully interact with a diverse population displaying both linguistic and cultural competence. Ability to provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices with a diverse population. Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, including excellent computer skills.

Position: Re-Entry Specialist

Job Description:

This position will work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs within the Lincoln or Burke County Detention Centers. The focus will be on helping Returning Citizens upon their release from jail, and identifying and connecting these individuals with needed resources within the community that will prevent them from reoffending through intensive case management services. The position will include work both within the Detention Center and out in the community with individuals and other outside agencies. Some transportation of individuals will be expected. This is a fast-paced position and requires a high level of self-sufficiency. Supervision provided. A strong work ethic, and a compassionate personality is needed. 

Position requirements:

Minimum Associates Degree (AP) in Human Services or related field and/or NC Certified PSS (CPSS), minimum of 2 yrs experience in Case Management. Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Position: Transportation Support Specialist

Job Description:

This position will work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs. The focus will be on supporting the 3 primary programs within the Jail Services at Lincoln, Catawba, and Burke Detention Center Facilities by providing transportation to consumers (Offenders) as needed. This position could be part-time. Must have very good boundaries and be willing to work with all sorts of people. Supervision provided.

Care Management Supervisor

Job description:

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full time Case Management Supervisor with at least three year’s experience providing care management, case management, or care coordination to the population being served. Preference for individual with general knowledge of the dynamics of Brain Health/MI and their impact upon person served and their families. The care management supervisor is responsible for the general oversite of the care management program. The supervisor monitors care managers case loads and ensures quality work and deadlines are met. The supervisor provides or arranges for coverage during care manager absences.

Club House Generalist

Job description:

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full time Clubhouse Generalist to provide quality assurance an assistance with ongoing assessments, goal plan development, and authorizations of clubhouse members. Assist with database tracking and monitoring of clubhouse outcomes and assist clubhouse members in work-related units as assigned. Assist members participating in community opportunities related to functional, social, educational and vocational goals.

Life Skills IDD Paraprofessional-Day Program

Job description:

This is a full-time position working in a day program center located in the Hickory, NC area. The IDD paraprofessional assists in providing training to clients with severe or profound developmental disabilities. The selected candidate teaches and guides clients to develop basic work, social, and living skills. Trains clients to acquire skills in independent living, self-help, adaptive behavior, pre-vocational, and community living. Assists with personal hygiene needs of clients. Participates in person-centered planning. Collects and records client data to ensure accurate record keeping. Transports clients to and from the Life Skills facility using a van. Must be a minimum of 25 years old to meet driving insurance requirements.

Must also have a working knowledge of the developmentally disabled population and must possess experience with skill-building training using a variety of training techniques. Experience with this population is a must.

IDD/MH Group Home Direct Support Professional-Overnight-Full Time

Job description:

Catawba Valley Healthcare (CVH) is a non-profit organization that includes adult residential group home services as one of its programs. The group homes are located in Catawba County, NC. CVH has immediate openings for 2 full-time direct support professionals as well as part-time and PRN.

The residents of the group homes are either adults with intellectual developmental disabilities or behavioral health. No skilled nursing care required.

Seeking staff for overnight shifts and shifts during the week. Staff are not awake staff. 7 nights on and 7 nights off. Days during the 7 day shift are not on site.

Position Requirements:


Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Will drive a van as needed. Applicants must have a good driving record.
